The Steeple in Goshen on Main

In my rearview mirror
on the way to work,
it stands akin to man’s monuments —
brothers in the backlit brotherhood
of Babel, shamelessly heaven sent.

Through the windshield rain
of my just parked car,
it glows low under the April dusk,
holding its glowing clock skyward, high
to try keeping time like the moon does.
